The property includes the addresses of 108 Arenal Ave and 15 Calle Del Mar. It is the small, privately-owned commercial strip that currently houses the post office and a local catering business.

The existing lease with the post office concludes in 2027, which is why it’s so important to figure out the long-term plan to maintain this community asset. The lease will not be renewed in the existing building given its failing septic system and other structural issues.

The new Stinson Beach Post Office would be relocated along Shoreline Highway alongside the Stinson Beach Library.

We are contributing two of the six housing units for affordable housing, which represents a substantial affordable component of 33%. Four units will be market-rate, one will be moderate, and one will be low-income.

According to the County of Marin, which sets the affordability levels, the low income is $134,500 for two people ($67,250 per person). The moderate income is $160,650 for two people ($80,325 per person).

The commercial property was listed for sale for quite some time. Over this period, we looked at the various concepts for the site with housing becoming the most realistic plan. In this process, we also recognized the importance of preserving the local post office, given what played out recently in Bolinas.
